Millwarra Primary School has eight basic expectations of our students:
  1. We respect a teacher’s right to teach and for students to learn and for parents to have the right for their children to be taught.
  2. We all have the right to feel happy and safe.
  3. We play safely and by the rules at all times.
  4. We will not tease, swear or hurt other people.
  5. We leave other people and their property alone.
  6. We leave our precious toys and games at home eg. electronic games, musical devices.
  7. We take care of the school environment.
  8. We put our rubbish in the bin.

Consequences For Inappropriate Behaviour
A warning is given to your child regarding their behaviour
Child’s name is put on the blackboard.
If behaviour continues, then a cross (X) is put next to their name, followed by additional crosses should their behaviour continue.
X 5 minutes loss of recess or lunch break
XX 15 minutes loss of recess or lunch break
XXX 30 minutes detention
2 detentions in any 30 day period An after school detention of 45 minutes duration
3 detentions in any 30 day period 1 full day in-school suspension
4 detentions in any 30 day period 1 day official suspension from school
5 detentions in any 30 day period 3 days official suspension from school
Blatant disregard for the steps above Meeting with school staff, parents and regional office staff


Examples of an immediate detention would be:
  • Kicking
  • Hitting
  • Punching
  • Spitting
  • Fighting or Play Fighting
  • Throwing objects
  • Inappropriate physical contact
  • Swearing
  • Verbal abuse/bullying
  • Verbal aggression
  • Refusal to do as requested
  • Disobedience

  • Behaviour which severely disrupts the classroom and other students learning.
  • Chewing gum/bubblegum.
  • Wilful damage
  • Bringing weapons to school (including replicas) or other dangerous objects.
  • Continuing to bring electronic equipment to school without permission.
  • Blatant defiance eg. failure to leave mobile phones at the office after being asked to do so.
  • Leaving the classroom or grounds without permission
  • Being out of bounds without permission
  • Deliberate failure to come to line on time
  • Theft of property
  • Issues involving drugs

These consequences may be varied at the discretion of our staff, taking into account each individual situation.
